Hosted by Maya Angelou Center

The Maya Angelou Center for Women's Health and Wellness at Forsyth Medical Center will host a three-day International Women's Health Summit later this month.

The summit, which is open to the public, will focus on topics including barriers and disparities in women's health care, human trafficking and violence against women, along with how to empower women and girls to lead. Speakers will include Mary Singletary, the president of the National Council of Women of the United States;Betty Makoni, the founder of the Girl Child Network Zimbabwe; and Imani Walker, cofounder of the Rebecca Project for Human Rights.

"The issues we will be discussing certainly affect women here in the United States, but we also hope to raise awareness for those all-too-prevalent and often tragic conditions that impact the lives of so many more women around the world every day," Dr. Chere Gregory, director of neurosciences at Forsyth Medical Center and summit organizer, said in a statement.
