Dear Journal,

It’s official! I am finally finished with my first year of medical school! Can you believe it? I know I can. As you already know, this year was a journey full of many challenging and fun times. This year was truly a great life learning experience. Through both the good and bad parts of my first year, I was able to push through them all successfully. I did it! I really did it!

So what’s next, you may ask? My summer break is next, of course. This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend. I’ll be with my family and friends eating great food at a Memorial Day picnic in my hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It’s a beautiful thing. The fun doesn’t stop there. My parents and I will be venturing to Destin, Florida for a week of well-deserved rest and relaxation.

I am so excited! It’s so nice to be able to have a break. I know that since this is my last official summer break for a while, I have to make sure to live it up. That is just what I will do.

In the next weeks of summer I will also be doing research, volunteering in Morocco, and traveling to as many places in the United States as possible. Stay tuned and get excited!
