Dear Journal,
X-U! X-X-X-X-X-X-X-U! I have to tell you that there is no place like my XU, also known as Xavier University of Louisiana. On Wednesday, I went back to my undergrad, XU, in New Orleans and it felt like I was coming home. All the good times on the yard, representing my school, experiencing the city, rushed back at once with every step on campus. I was so happy to see everyone and all the familiar faces. I definitely felt the love.
It’s amazing how just a year ago I was a student at XU and now I’m back as a medical student. (Darn it! I feel like I might be getting old….or at least older. It’s okay. I’ll be okay.) Throughout my entire time at XU that day, I kept thinking, “will I one day feel such a strong love, such a passion for my medical school?” I really hope so. It would be a shame if I spent these four years here at the University of Rochester and not have that bond with my school.
Even though I have thoroughly been challenged here, I must say that I think that strong love is developing. It’s mainly because of my friends here. I don’t know what I would do without them. They have been my support and my heart. I’m looking forward to returning to see everyone after a very restful spring break. I’m sure they’ll say something about how my southern accent has miraculously come back in strong force.
That’s alright! Hi, y’all!
